Sure, Billy Beane is famous for his "moneyball" approach, but this seems a bit extreme. The A's acquired Brewers pitcher Brad Mills today for one single, measly dollar.

Mills, a left-hander, was 4-2 with a 1.56 earned-run average and 0.92 WHIP in 14 games (12 starts) for Class AAA Nashville. He also struck out 77 in 75 innings.
He had an opt-out clause in his contract that allowed for Mills to leave the organization beginning June 15 if another team put him on its active 25-man roster.
The early word is that the A's are moving Mills right into their starting rotation.
