NFL Sunday Night Football Predictions, Picks & Best Bets for 12/31
We’re in store for an NFC North showdown with massive playoff implications on Sunday Night Football this week. The Packers head out on the road to take on the Vikings, and both teams’ playoff odds fall below five percent with a loss but rise up to 50% or better with a win. Needless to say, each squad’s season is essentially on the line in Week 17.
It should be a great contest that is tightly contested throughout, and thus, we’ve still dished out our best Sunday Night Football predictions below. Sunday Night Football Predictions
Before getting into our official Sunday Night Football picks, it’s worth mentioning that these teams already met once this season back in Week 8. Minnesota came away with a 24-10 victory, but they’re a completely different team now than they were then, mainly due to no longer having Kirk Cousins under center. Because of this, it’s hard to take too much of that game into consideration when making Sunday Night Football predictions for their matchup this time around.
The Jaire Alexander suspension is also an aspect worth highlighting. Green Bay was already struggling defensively, allowing at least 24 points in three consecutive outings. Now they’ll be without one of their best players on the defensive side of the ball, which certainly won’t help. The Vikings defense hasn’t been much better recently though, surrendering 57 total points their last two games. We’d lean towards the over in terms of the game total, but our SNF picks regarding a winner can be found below.
Sunday Night Football Picks & Best Bets Including Packers ML
Starting off our SNF predictions, Green Bay is coming off a win against the lowly Panthers, but they’ve been a solid squad the second half of this campaign. With a record of 4-2 since Week 10, the Packers have been led by their offense. QB Jordan Love appears to be coming into his own and has helped this team score 27+ points in three of their last five games. We already touched on the Vikings’ defensive struggles, so GB shouldn’t have many issues moving the ball in this one.
In Minnesota’s case, they own just one win in their previous five outings. They’ve since benched QBs Joshua Dobbs and Nick Mullens in favor of rookie Jaren Hall, so it’s hard to put much faith into this unit. They’re just a few weeks removed from terrible 10-point and three-point showings as an offense against the Bears and Raiders, respectively, and even last week’s 24-point outing came against a struggling Lions defense.
When all is said and done, there’s truly just one question to be asked when making Sunday Night Football picks for this week: which quarterback do you trust more? Though Love is still young, he’s shown promise time and time again, and Hall is a complete wildcard up to this point. No matter who’s the signal caller, it’s also tough to beat a team twice in one season. So, we’ll be siding with the Packers money line (-105 at DraftKings) in our Sunday Night Football predictions for Week 17.
