NFL Week 18 Early Spread Picks & Predictions

In terms of our best bet for this week’s slate of games, our focus will turn to the NFC North division. The Lions already wrapped up the division title last week, but the Packers still have hopes to make it into the playoffs via a Week 18 victory over their division rival, the Chicago Bears. Chicago is eliminated from playoff contention, but they’ve been playing extremely well as of late and have the chance to spoil Green Bay’s chances.

The Bears are 4-1 over their last five games, including a victory over the Lions. Justin Fields has this offense humming right now with 27+ points scored in three of those contests, as Chicago is taking the league’s second-best rushing attack (145.3 yards per game) into the final weekend. The defense is clicking too, surrendering 20 points or less during this nice end-of-the-season stretch.

Green Bay is just 2-2 over their last four games, and the two wins came against a bad Panthers squad by just three points and a banged-up Vikings team. Much of this game will fall on QB Jordan Love’s shoulders for the Packers as Chicago is the best in the NFL at stopping the run. Love has certainly played well this season, but is he ready for arguably the biggest game of his young career? Only time will tell.

Because the Bears have such a good ground game offensively, they should be able to move the ball with ease against the league’s fourth-worst rush defense in the Packers. We actually like Chicago to pull off the upset outright, but taking them at their spread gives a safe little cushion. They’re currently listed at +100 odds to cover a 3-point spread, so I bought an extra point just to be even safer. Thus, the best of our NFL Week 18 picks likes the Bears +3.5 (-124 at DraftKings).
