Four Toronto Argonauts Assistant Coaches Receive Contract Extensions

The Toronto Argonauts locked up four offensive assistant coaches on Ryan Dinwiddie's staff to contract extensions.

After a successful 16-2 regular-season campaign, the Toronto Argonauts are looking to keep the band together by agreeing to contract extensions with four of the assistant coaches on Ryan Dinwiddie's staff.

The four coaches locked up are receivers coach and pass game coordinator Pete Costanza, quarterback coach Mike Miller, running back and run game coordinator Edwin Harrison, and offensive line coach Kris Sweet.

Miller has been given a lot of credit for the development of quarterback Chad Kelly, who was able to nab the Most Outstanding Player award at the end of the season. Kelly went from being a backup in 2022 to one of the best quarterbacks in the CFL.

Sweet also has gotten praised as their offensive line allowed the least number of sacks in the CFL in 2023 allowing 29 sacks.

Harrison coached A.J. Ouellette to a 1,000-yard rushing season, which was the first for an Argos player since Brandon Whitaker did it in 2017.

As for Costanza with the receivers, two of the team’s receivers ranked in the top 20 in receiving yards. DaVaris Daniels was 10th with 1,009 yards and Damonte Coxie checked in at 19th with 787 yards.

The Argos improved on their offensive performance as they averaged 386.5 yards per game, which is their most since 2017. Toronto was also second in the CFL in points per game, averaging 32.8 points. Their QBR was also ranked second in the league at 104.1.

Dinwiddie was also named the Coach of the Year.
