Boston College promotes WR coach Todd Fitch to offensive coordinator

Boston College has promoted wide receivers coach Todd Fitch to offensive coordinator and hired former Florida assistant Brian White as wide receivers coach, according to sources.

Fitch, 49, succeeds Ryan Day, who left last month to become the Philadelphia Eagles' quarterbacks coach. Fitch arrived with Eagles coach Steve Addazio in 2013 and has also served as pass game coordinator the past two seasons.

Fitch was previously offensive coordinator at South Florida (2010-12), East Carolina (2009-10) and Connecticut (1996-98). White spent the last six seasons as an assistant at Florida, where he and Addazio coached together from 2009-10 under then-Gators coach Urban Meyer.

The 50-year-old White has previously been offensive coordinator at Wisconsin (1999-06) and Syracuse (2006-07). The Groveland, Massachusetts native was Harvard’s starting quarterback from 1985-86.

Boston College had a surprising 7-6 record this past season in what had been expected to be a rebuilding year for Addazio. He has a 14-12 record in his two seasons with the Eagles and signed a contract extension in December through 2020.
