Report: Alabama to Land Wake Forest Cornerback Out of Transfer Portal

The former Demon Deacon has appeared in 23 games over the last two seasons in the ACC.

The Alabama Crimson Tide played host to Wake Forest cornerback DaShawn Jones this weekend and by all accounts, the redshirt sophomore enjoyed his visit. Jones enjoyed his visit so much that Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reports that he is expected to announce his decision to transfer to Alabama.

Jones is a former 3-star prospect out of Baltimore, MD. in the Class of 2021. He redshirted his first season in Winston-Salem but got significant playing time as a redshirt freshman appearing in 12 games. The 6-foot, 180-pound defensive back started in nine games as a redshirt sophomore and led the team with three interceptions.

In total he's tallied 60 tackles with 10 pass breakups and three interceptions in two seasons of action.

He steps into a cornerback room devoid of experience as just he and Domani Jackson have appeared in a college game. Jones will compete with Jahlil Hurley, Zabien Brown, Zavier Mincey and Jaylen Mbakwe for playing time this fall.

Jones is the fourth transfer into the Alabama program in the spring window, joining offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor, kicker Graham Nicholson and safety Kameron Howard.
