Auburn star near top of SEC in a handful of basketball stats
The Auburn basketball team is coming off a rough loss to Kentucky in Neville Arena but is still in a really good spot with the SEC and NCAA Tournaments quickly approaching.
Against Kentucky, Jaylin Williams went down with what looked like a severe injury, but it sounds like he will be back on the floor sooner rather than later as Auburn looks to make a push in March. This is huge news for a team that can make a deep run in March with Williams on the floor.
Williams's frontcourt mate, Johni Broome, is having an incredible season for the Tigers. Broome is second in the SEC in blocks (2.4 a game), second in the SEC in rebounds (8.5 a game), third in field goal percentage (54.6%), and eighth in points per game (16.1). If it weren't for Broome and the incredible season he has put together, Auburn would not be a top 15 team in college basketball.
BVM Sports had this to say about Broome when he was added to the John R. Wooden Award Watch List, "Johni Broome's inclusion on the prestigious John R. Wooden Award Watch List underscores his exceptional talent and the impact he's had on Auburn's basketball program, paving the way for potential future accolades and opportunities."
Perhaps the incredible season Broome is putting together will give him the opportunity to sneak into the second round of the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft. If Auburn makes another historic run in the NCAA Tournament, it will likely be thanks to Broome.
