Brett Favre believes Deion Sanders is the exception to the coaching rule
The general consensus among football players is that Hall-of-Famers typically don't make great coaches. Deion Sanders hasn't only broken the mold, but others are starting to explore the possibility of other former players taking head coaching positions.
An unconventional route that has worked for Colorado with Sanders. It was looked at by some in the national media as a nightmare waiting to happen. While others bought into the fact that Coach Prime's talents extended past his playing days.
Another NFL great backed Sanders in the face of criticism. Brett Favre was a guest on Fearless with Jason Whitlock this week. The Packers legendary QB was in the midst of a back-and-forth conversation with Whitlock, Warren Sapp, and Seth Joyner about Sanders' initial wins at Colorado. The group agreed that players aren't typically accepted in the coaching realm. However, Favre sees something special with the way Coach Prime has operated thus far.
"There are exceptions to the rule. Deion Sanders will be that exception, " Favre said.
Sapp tried to sell Whitlock on all of Sanders' progress at CU and how the Buffs players are truly invested in the state of the program. The highly-controversial talk host went on the defensive by replying to Sapp and saying that Sanders was "insecure" with himself.
Sanders and Colorado move on to face CSU in Saturday's Rocky Mountain Showdown. The 92nd meeting between the in-state rivals with the Buffs winning the previous five games in the series.
