Jordan Domineck says he's playing with "Legends in the making" at Colorado
Jordan Domineck had a monster game for Colorado on Saturday. The Buffs linebacker finished with four tackles (2.5 for loss) and a fumble recovery in the 36-14 win over the Huskers. He was a guest on The Jim Rome Show Monday to talk about the start of the season in Boulder.
After pushing off NFL aspirations, Domineck migrated to Colorado wanting to make an impact for Coach Prime, who tried to recruit him at Jackson State. The "Smiling Warrior" is set to make noise in the Pac-12 immediately. He explained to Rome why the Buffs are the biggest story of the college football world.
"It's definitely crazy and a bit surreal, but Coach Prime came in with a plan and has been saying from day one, "Look, we're coming here to win. We're not coming here just to be here," Domineck said.
"To be here with Coach Prime and see the work he's done, the work put into this program and energy he's poured into this program and time, and the amount of compassion he's poured into this program. It's not a surprise to us the way everything has been going. We've always just believed"
The Buffs have shocked the world by coming out of the gate with two outstanding wins. It wasn't by accident or a fluke as some would suggest. Deion Sanders and his staff constructed a team of "Leaders and Dawgs," but what most of the analysts outside Colorado don't realize is there's a lot of depth and more talent waiting in the wings.
Domineck says his teammates are "Legends in the making," and he's excited to be part of what's happening in Boulder. He bought into the vision that Sanders sold to him and the rest of the Buffs and it's starting to become reality. The "Prime Effect" was real on Saturday with Colorado fans bringing a lot of electricity back to Folsom Field. It's something Domineck and the rest of the Buffaloes felt and appreciated.
"This is really something special," Domineck noted. "Just being able to go out there and see the entire vibe and aspect of it. The energy was electric. You felt it before you even walked out into the stadium."
Colorado looks to make it six straight over CSU this weekend. A 10 p.m. ET kickoff from Folsom Field with ESPN GameDay and FOX Big Noon Kickoff pregame both in Boulder for the Rocky Mountain Showdown.
