WR TJ Moore Recaps First Florida Visit: 'I Can See Myself Playing There'

Tampa (Fla.) Catholic WR TJ Moore recaps his first visit with the Florida Gators.

The Florida Gators have gotten off to a great start for the 2024 cycle adding quality prospects across the board. However, they are still searching for their first pass catcher of the class. With offers going out to a plethora of players all over the country one prospect that has been at the top of the list is Tampa (Fla.) Catholic standout Terrance “TJ” Moore

Moore is an extremely talented pass-catcher that has seen his recruitment explode in the last six months or so pulling in offers from some of the nation’s elite programs. All Gators was able to catch up with Moore while he was in Orlando competing at Overtime’s OT7 tournament and discuss his recruiting process and where things currently stand for him.

“Recruiting is going good; all of my visits have been good so far," Moore said. "I dropped my top 13 recently and just trying to get out to the schools I haven’t been to so I can see them, give them a chance, and hopefully commit soon.”

Moore is no stranger to college campuses as he has taken upwards of 15 visits to schools that reside in his aforementioned top 13. Due to the extensive traveling over the course of his recruiting process, Moore feels comfortable with making his college decision prior to his senior year of high school and knows exactly what he’s looking for in the program he chooses.

“Wherever I can develop the most and wherever can help me get to the next level," Moore stated. "The NFL.”

Florida has been a player in Moore’s recruitment since the coaching staff extended an offer in January. Moore was finally able to get on campus at the beginning of April and made note of enjoyable conversations held with head coach Billy Napier, wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales and wide receivers assistant David Doeker during the trip.

“It was really good. I really enjoyed it, and they really surprised me to be honest," Moore suggested. "I didn’t even really get to see the campus. I just saw the facility, practice, and spoke with the coaches. Coach Napier and coach Gonzales are really good coaches and Coach Deck too, that’s my dog. So I can see myself playing there.”

Florida covets Moore's athleticism as he has everything coaches look for in a big-time WR at the next level. Route running, speed, strong hands, and ability to go up and get the ball comprise UF's scouting report of Moore's game, he said, and the staff envisions a seamless transition into the offense if he were to choose the Gators.

With a decision on the horizon, Moore said he wants to start taking his official visits immediately and already knows four of his preferred destinations: USC, Tennessee, Clemson, and Ohio State.

With UF being close to home, Moore is unsure if he will officially visit the Gators but said that Florida is a school he plans to visit again.
