Sophomore Florida State guard Tom House plans on entering the transfer portal, per Jamie Shaw. He’s played in 53 games in his career, but scored just 78 total points, hitting 18 3-pointers. He only saw 83 total minutes of action this past season. Waka Mbatch, a freshman big man from Gambia, is also expected to be portaling, per Rivals Portal.
House signed with Florida State in the 2022 recruiting class as a three-star out of Dayton, Ohio. FSU expected him to be a shooter off the bench, but his defensive shortcomings and not great handle on the ball made him hard to play in most games. The game that sticks out the most was his performance at Virginia in 2022 where his shooting single-handedly kept the ‘Noles in the contest, but then got too shot-happy down the stretch.

He just never became the shooter FSU needed to be and they’ll likely try to find other, more consistent shooters in the portal this offseason. The Seminoles have plenty of needs to fill, but adding perimeter shooting has to be at the top of the list with House now entering the portal and Darin Green Jr. exhausting his eligibility. FSU shot just 31.7% from 3 as a team this season, which was the 2nd-lowest percentage in the ACC.
Mbatch only appeared in two games this season for a total of three minutes and was a little bit of a mystery addition to the team, not joining until a few months before the season. It wasn't ever clear if he was on scholarship or not, though it was believed to be he was not. He played in the premier division league while in Gambia and was defensive player of the year while playing for Hope Academy in 2022.
House and Mbatch are Florida State’s fourth and fifth entries into the transfer portal so far in what figures to be a busy offseason for the ‘Noles, joining De'Ante Green, Primo Spears, and Baba Miller. House is also the fourth member of the 2022 recruiting class to enter the portal, leaving just Chandler Jackson and Cam Corhen.
