Michigan Wolverines vs. Iowa Hawkeyes Prediction: Big Ten Championship Game Today, 12/2
The Wolverines come into this championship bout as the second-ranked team in the nation after a perfect 12-0 regular season. RB Blake Corum leads the charge with nearly 1,000 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns so far, while J.J. McCarthy has continued to be as consistent as ever behind center.
Defensively, Michigan sports top 10 numbers in nearly every single statistical category, including total yards (second, 247.4) and points allowed per game (first, 10.3). It is worth pointing out that in their last two games, they’ve allowed their most points all season (24) to each of those opponents (Maryland, OSU).
As for Iowa, college football fans everywhere know the deal with this squad. They’re 10-2 and Big Ten West Champions but possess one of the most putrid offenses in all the country. Their best statistic on that side of the ball on a per-game basis is their rushing yards, and even that ranks all the way down at 104th in the NCAA (123.9).
However, the Hawkeyes defense is stout. They might not have quite as impressive of numbers as UM, but they’re still allowing a miniscule 279.3 yards per game (seventh in NCAA) to opposing offenses and just 12.2 points (fourth).
