Tennessee Volunteers vs. Kentucky Wildcats Prediction for Saturday's SEC Matchup, 10/28

Our first pick for Tennessee and Kentucky this weekend will focus on Ray Davis from the Wildcats. The Kentucky running back has recorded 781 rushing yards this season, an average of 111.5 rushing yards per game. In five games this season, Davis has recorded at least 70+ rushing yards, highlighted by a 112-yard rushing performance against Ball State, a 280-yard rushing game against Florida, and most recently a 128-yard rushing game against Missouri.

It is worth pointing out that Tennessee has the 24th best rushing defense in the country, but the Volunteers just allowed Jase McClellan of Alabama to rush for 115 yards against them last week, therefore backing Davis to go over his rushing prop on Saturday night will be our best bet.

Tennessee vs. Kentucky Best Bets & Expert Picks

Saturday night’s SEC matchup between Tennessee and Kentucky is absolutely crucial for both teams’ season. This is especially true for Tennessee if they are to have any hope of winning the SEC, having Georgia still to play.

Both teams are 5-2 on the season and both teams are coming off a loss in their most recent game. Tennessee lost to Alabama this past week, while Kentucky lost to Missouri two weeks ago before having a bye this past week.

Over the first five games of the season, the Wildcats’ strength was their defense. During this stretch, they allowed 15.2 points per game. That being said, they have allowed 44.5 points on average over the last two games against Georgia and Missouri.

Even with Kentucky’s recent defensive struggles, Tennessee has not been extremely consistent on offense. In their four SEC games, the Volunteers are averaging 24.3 points per game and the only game where they scored more than 20 points was against South Carolina. Keep in mind that Tennessee scored 20 points in the first half against Alabama, but were shut out in the second half.

Combined with Tennessee’s inconsistent offense in SEC games, Kentucky’s solid defense overall and Kentucky’s success running the ball, backing the Wildcats to cover will be our best bet for Saturday night.
