Takeaways from Kentucky's 90-77 win over Mississippi State

The offense was incredible in Kentucky's win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The Bulldogs were holding opponents to 64.8 points per game, but the Wildcats hung 90 on them in this game. Kentucky shot 55.6% from the field and looked really good scoring the ball. If Kentucky keeps finding a way to score the basketball and the defense keeps getting better no one can beat this team. This is the best Kentucky offense of the John Calipari era. 

Coming out of the half, Mississippi went on a big run of 14-2 before Coach Calipari was forced to call a timeout. Kentucky had an 18-point halftime lead, and less than three minutes into the second half, it was cut to six. Kentucky was able to settle in after the timeout, score some points, and get the 13-point win, but giving a team some life can kill you, and the Bulldogs made it a close game quickly into the second half. If you fall asleep coming out of a half and give up a run like this, it can lead to a loss, especially in March. It's great that Kentucky rebounded well from the run, but it can't happen again, or it could lead to an ugly loss. 

Rob Dillingham and Antonio Reeves combined to score 43 points in the win, including a game-high 27 from Reeves. These two Kentucky guards are some of the best scorers in all of college basketball. If they play like this during SEC play and in the NCAA Tournament, this team will not lose. Both of these players will have a lot of success at the next level, and Dillingham is a player who could win Rookie of the Year next season in the NBA thanks to his play style.
