What will Travis Perry's role be for Kentucky in 2024?
Will Travis Perry have a significant role for Kentucky in 2024?
Now that the 2023-24 Kentucky basketball season has come to an end, it is time to start predicting what next season's roster will look like.
There are still some decisions that need to be made for a few players who will decide what is next for them, but we know which freshman will be coming in for next year.
One of the freshmen that will have an interesting role next season is Travis Perry. He is the all-time leading scorer in Kentucky High School Basketball history and led Lyon County to a State Championship this year.
Having watched Perry play, he is great moving without the basketball, which helps him get open threes. He is a smaller guard who will likely play the two guard although he can handle the basketball.
Perry's ability to get to the rim is a concern. There is no doubt that Perry will be able to shoot the three-point shot at the college level, but if he can't put the ball on the floor, it will be tough for him to get open threes, as opposing teams will face-guard him. DJ Wagner, Reed Sheppard, and Rob Dillingham's decisions will all affect Perry's role.
If any of those three players come back, he will lose some minutes. How Coach John Calipari uses the transfer portal will also affect the role Perry has next season, as he is openly looking for guards who can shoot. All of the Bluegrass State will be rooting for Perry as he is a Kentucky High School Basketball legend.
