New Miami QB Target Anderson Offered by Dawson, First Visit Next?

New offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson busy looking to build Miami's QB room

Judd Anderson is as busy as any class of 2024 recruit at this time.

While the rising-senior quarterback recruit is picking up offers and considering spring visits ahead of a college decision, he's also working towards a basketball state championship. The 6-foot-7 prospect is leading Gray (Ga.) Jones County into it's final four matchup on Friday night.

But the start to his Friday came with a new scholarship offer from a new coach he is quickly building a relationship with -- Shannon Dawson at Miami

"He (Dawson) offered me this morning!" Anderson told All Hurricanes. "I did not know him prior to the Miami job, we’ve talked for about two weeks now and we’ve just gotten close.

"He said 'you’re about to blow up, so we want to go ahead and offer you and be one of the first and have you locked in with us.'"

Anderson has picked up scholarship offers over the last two years as a big, athletic passer. Ole Miss, Pitt and others join Miami in pursuit of the Peach State prospect, who averages a double-double on the basketball court to boot.

"I’ve loved talking with coach Dawson and Coach (Mario) Cristobal so far and I think our relationship will go a long way," he said. "I’ve always wanted to go down there and it’s a great opportunity and a blessing!

"I’ve got to go down this spring once basketball finishes up."

Jones County basketball faces Eagles Landing High School Friday evening for a spot in the state championship on the line.
