Gophers land Ohio leading rusher Sieh Bangura
The Gophers football team got the commitment of Ohio transfer running back Sieh Bangura on Tuesday, adding depth to the running back room.
Bangura had 178 carries for 811 yards (4.6 YPC) and seven touchdowns as a redshirt sophomore in 2023. He had an even heavier workload in 2022, carrying the ball 222 times for 1,078 yards (4.9 YPC) and 13 touchdowns.
Bangura will join a Gophers' running back room that returns leading rusher Darius Taylor and second-leading rusher Jordan Nubin but has lost third-leading rusher Sean Tyler and fifth-leading rusher Bryce Williams to graduation.
Zach Evans, the team's fourth-leading rusher in 2023, entered the transfer portal and committed to North Texas.
Minnesota also has two incoming freshman running backs for its class of 2024.
