Another Bulldog Minute: Mississippi State Earns First Road Win of the Season
Mississippi State has been two completely different teams home and away this season.
In Starkville, inside Humphrey Coliseum, the Bulldogs are 15-2 this year, while on the road the team had yet to win a game until this Saturday.
Following his team's dominant, much needed win over the Missouri Tigers, head coach Chris Jans spoke with the media and opened up on the team's road struggles this season.
"It's obviously hard to win in this league regardless of where you're playing," Jans said, "There's so many good coaches and players. It's certainly harder on the road, and we just weren't able to put 40 minutes together in previous tries."
"We needed to overcome that hurdle tonight, and we did," said Jans.
The Bulldogs forced Missouri into twenty turnovers on Saturday night, scoring 14 points as a result. Senior Cameron Matthews led the team with a whopping seven steals and was fourth in scoring with nine points.
Jans praised his team's defensive performance against the Tigers, saying, "We've talked a lot, and tried to get them more revved up on the ball and dictating a little more on the ball and speed people up with the idea of hopefully scoring off our defense. Tonight we were able to get that done."
The Bulldogs are back at home for two upcoming games against Arkansas and Ole Miss before venturing back on the road against LSU on February 24. As of now the team sits at ninth in the SEC, but has a chance to continue rising throughout the season's final stretch.
