- As of Jan 22, Mississippi State men's basketball is projected as a nine seed in the NCAA Tournament, according to Joe Lunardi of ESPN.
- Former Mississippi State standout defensive tackle Chris Jones recorded three tackles and a forced fumble for the Kansas City Chiefs in their 27-24 victory over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs.
