Another Bulldog Minute: Mississippi State Looks to Close Regular Season Strong

The Mississippi State Bulldogs have a chance to close the regular season strong and move up the SEC standings before the tournament.

Mississippi State currently sits at ninth in the SEC with a conference record of 5-6, four games out of first place.

Though taking the regular season crown is out of the picture for the Bulldogs, the team still has a chance to rise up the conference standings over the final weeks of the season.

State takes on a struggling Arkansas team this weekend who has failed to live up the preseason hype and sits 12th in the SEC at 3-8.

With a win over the Razorbacks, the Bulldogs would be at .500 in conference play with a chance to potentially move up in the standings with a Texas A&M (6-5) loss.

Above the Aggies is Kentucky who is just two games ahead Mississippi State. The Wildcats take on Auburn in Neville Arena Saturday night and a loss could spell disaster for the Cats whose remaining schedule is very tough.

Looking ahead at the rest of the Bulldogs' schedule, Mississippi State closes the season tougher than any team in the conference, taking on three of its top four teams in the last four game stretch.

If the Bulldogs can find a way to close the season stronger than it began, this team could find itself with a good seed in both the conference and NCAA tournaments.

As of now ESPN's Joe Lunardi lists Mississippi State as one of the last four in, but a strong showing in the last few weeks of the 2023-24 season could change that.
