Watch: No. 9 Missouri Gymnastics is Set to Face Off Against No. 3 LSU
Coming off of a road win in Athens against the No. 20 Georgia Bulldogs, Missouri is looking for an upset over the No. 3 LSU Gymnastics program.
But, Missouri has a difficult road ahead of them if they hope to out-do their last performance. The Tigers posted their 8th-best score of all time and a season-high against the Bulldogs with a 197.400 and would have to perform better than that to get the win over LSU.
To top LSU, Missouri would have to put on one of their best performances yet. Both teams have three wins to their name with a score of 197.150 this season, but LSU posted a season-high 198.125 in their win over No. 6 Kentucky and Missouri is yet to reach the 198 mark.
LSU's only loss of the season so far came on the road against No. 1 Oklahoma with a final score of 197.900-197.150.
The Missouri Tigers will need to rely on their veteran talent in senior Mara Titarsolej and graduate student Sienna Schreiber, who had stellar performances in Athens. But they will also need their rookies in freshman Kennedy Griffen and Hannah Horton to put on a show.
Titarsolej received her first SEC Specialist of the Week honors for her performance after notching an impressive 9.975 on the uneven bars. The Netherlands native didn't just receive honors from the conference for her uneven bars performance, she broke a school record posting the best bars score in the school's history.
Missouri and LSU are both 4-1 on the season so far, with their only loss to No. 4 Alabama in Tuscaloosa and No. 1 Oklahoma, respectively. Titarsolej and the Missouri Tigers hope to bring their success back to Columbia for the SEC Home opener against LSU tigers on Friday.
The meet starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Hearnes center in Columbia, Mo. Missouri takes a short break from SEC competition with their trip to the Lone Star State to face off against Texas Woman’s University on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 6 p.m.
