46 Athletes Officially Commit to Mizzou on National Signing Day
Wednesday was National Signing Day in every sport except for football, which made it a very busy day at the University of Missouri. As midnight approached, 46 athletes had signed their National Letters of Intent, officially ending their recruitment process, and more were expected as the early signing period lasts through Nov. 15.
The NLI is a binding agreement between a prospective student-athlete and a school. A prospective student-athlete agrees to attend the institution full-time for one academic year (two semesters or three quarters), while the school institution agrees to provide athletics financial aid for at least one academic year (two semesters or three quarters).
The early period for College football is from Dec. 20-22, and National Signing Day is traditionally on the first Wednesday of February. The regular signing period of basketball is from April 17-May 15.
Wednesday was the first time high school seniors could sign their National Letter of Intent and lock down their scholarship offer. All sports have an early signing period except for men’s and women’s soccer and men’s water polo.
