Missouri Baseball Run-Rules UT Martin to Break Five-Game Losing Streak

The Tigers tacked on the most runs they have had in a game since March 10 to get the win against the Skyhawks.

Missouri stole a win with small ball.

Putting up 13 runs helped the Tigers break their five-game losing streak with a 13-3 run-rule of the UT Martin Skyhawks in eight innings. 10 of those runs came from the aforementioned small ball.

The Tigers racked up five steals throughout the game, all of those helped score a run. Jackson Beaman took two, while Jeric Curtis, Brock Daniels and Kaden Peer each got one.

In the first inning alone, the Tigers stole three of those bases, one being home. Those steals helped them take the lead in the first inning. They continued the small ball in the third to bring in three more runs with the help of two steals and three singles.

It kept going in the fifth with two walks from Kaden Peer and Trevor Austin. Those walks resulted in runs after a fly out from Brock Daniels and a single from Matt Garcia.

The long ball was activated in the sixth and was brought into the seventh. Jackson Beaman sent a solo shot to left center to add onto Missouri’s lead and Daniels got a two-run shot in the seventh. The homers helped the Tigers eclipse 10 runs, the first time since they put up 20 runs against Purdue Fort Wayne.

Missouri’s starter Daniel Wissler went to work after a rough first and put up two scoreless after that. Things quickly went downhill for Wissler in the fourth. He gave up two solo-home runs to start the inning, then allowed a walk and a single before getting out of it.

The calm after the storm was provided by Brock Lucas. On the mound, he put up two clean innings for the Tigers while the bats helped advance Missouri's lead. To continue the strong relief, Jacob Peaden entered the game. He started and quickly got out of the seventh and eighth with one hit and three strikeouts.

Multiple Tigers had career games against UT Martin. Daniels put up highs in runs with four and RBIs with five, Trevor Austin tied his career-high in runs, Wissler put up a high in strikeouts with six.

The Tigers return to the field again on Wednesday, April 3 at 3 p.m. CT for game two of the series.
