Mizzou Women's Basketball Wins by 43 Over Kansas City

Mizzou women's basketball had very little Holliday sympathy for UM - Kansas City (UMKC) on Thursday night. The Tigers hopped right over the Kangaroos, winning 85-42. The 43-point win was the second biggest margin of victory this season for Mizzou to put the Tigers at 9-4.
Fittingly for the first day of winter, it got dark early for Kansas City. Mizzou went on a 14-2 run in the final two minutes of the first half to build a 21-6 lead. Freshman forward Hannah Linthacum had a breakout performance, setting a career-high in just the first quarter with 10 points. The Jefferson City, Mo. native was the Tigers' leading scorer with 20 points.
On the top of Kansas City's wish list all night was any sort of offensive success. The foes to the west only shot 26.1% from the field. The Kangaroos' offensive efforts were often ruined by the defensive play of Mizzou's Mama Dembele. The senior guard from Spain had three turnovers and three defensive rebounds in the game. Sophomore guard Ashton Judd was also a force on Mizzou's defense, coming away with nine defensive rebounds. Judd recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 total rebounds.
Quite simply, Mizzou was able to dominate Kansas City in virtually every statistical category. Including free-throws (78.6%, 37.5% ), three-point shots (38.5%, 16.7%) and rebounds (54, 40).
Thursday's win wrapped up the non-conference slate for Mizzou. The Tigers will begin conference play in the new year with a Jan. 4th trip to Baton Rouge to play No. 7 LSU.
