Nebrasketball Falls at Ohio State
The Huskers' road woes continued Thursday night.
Nebraska men's basketball (20-9, 10-8 Big Ten) fell at Ohio State (17-12, 7-11 Big Ten) 78-69. The Huskers saw their four-game winning streak come to an end while the Buckeyes improved to 3-1 under interim head coach Jake Diebler.
The final five minutes of each half were the problem area for the Big Red. The Huskers led by seven points with 4:47 to go in the first half but were outscored 12-3 going into the break. Then, with NU trailing by just two points with 3:52 to go in the game, Ohio State closed with a 9-2 run.
Ohio State shot 43% for the game, including 8-of-21 from 3. The Buckeyes made 24-of-28 free throws. OSU's Jamison Battle was a headache for the Huskers, finishing with 32 points.
Nebraska managed to shoot 39%, including 10-of-33 from deep. But NU shot just eight free throws, making seven.
The 10 made triples give Nebraska 274 on the season, breaking the program's single-season record of 270 that was set in 2018-19.
Only two Huskers scored in double figures: Rienk Mast and Jamarques Lawrence, who both notched 14 points. Mast added 12 rebounds for the double-double.
Nebraska returns home Sunday to host Rutgers for Senior Day.
