Spotlight on Blackshirts in New Hype Video

A video hyping the tradition of Nebraska football's Blackshirt defense was released Monday on social media by the athletic department.
The narrator, former Husker linebacker Will Compton, notes that the Blackshirts' culture was forged over generations by names like Devaney, Osborne, Peter, Wistrom and Suh. "They built this tradition we stand for," he says. Now it's time, he says, for the 2021 defense to make those standard-bearers proud and leave its own legacy.

Nebraska returns 11 full- or part-time starters on defense, including six who earned at least honorable-mention All-Big Ten recognition last season. According to ESPN's metrics, Nebraska has the most returning defensive production of any team in the Big Ten West.
The Huskers will report for fall camp Thursday and hold their first practice Friday.
