UA All-American OL Zandamela Hoping for Ohio State Football Offer
WINTER GARDEN, Fla. -- There was only one Under Armour All-America Game invitation handed out at Sunday's regional camp near Orlando, as Jason Zandamela got the good news.
The Clearwater (Fla.) Academy International prospect, originally from Mozambique, Africa, made due while working at center for the first time in a camp setting (video above). At 6-foot-3, 286 pounds, the class of 2024 recruit can work up and down an offensive line.
"Been putting in a lot of work, on and off the field," he said. "Grateful to be able to come out here and show my talents, obviously it paid off.
"The wide base for sure, and I'm a pretty lengthy guy. When I put my hands on the D-tackles, they normally can't really reach me. I just anchor from there."
Zandamela has seen his recruiting stock increase in droves early this year. USC, Oregon, Penn State, Oklahoma, Florida State and Miami have each offered and done a good job maintaining communication.
While the rising-senior recruit will move forward with spring unofficial visits, with FSU next on his list, the official visit windows are still wide open and available between those programs.
That is unless an additional program, Ohio State, crashes the party with a scholarship offer. It turns out the Buckeye brand is quite international.
"Ohio State, for sure," Zandamela said when asked what new offers would shake up his recruitment. "Even when I was back home, I knew about the Buckeyes for sure.
"Ohio State is Ohio State!"
The Buckeyes have made an initial connection to Zandamela, he says. A scholarship offer has yet to be discussed, however.
