Oklahoma DB Billy Bowman Roasts Texas QB Arch Manning — and ESPN Softball Rankings
Count Oklahoma defensive back Billy Bowman among the long, historic and colorful line of Sooners who don’t really care for Texas.
In keeping with OU tradition, Bowman posted his disdain for all things Longhorns twice Tuesday on his Twitter/X account.
One appeared to be in support of his fiance, All-American center fielder Jayda Coleman. After suffering a loss Sunday for the first time in 71 games — a streak that dates back to February 2023 — OU’s softball team was ranked No. 2 behind Texas in ESPN’s latest softball Top 25.
“Everyone in the country knows who’s #1,” Bowman tweeted. “Y’all just seeking attention? smh”
But then Bowman, a senior from Denton, TX, took it to another level.
He quote-tweeted a Monday post from Pro Football Focus College reporting that Texas quarterback Arch Manning will not opt into EA Sports’ College Football 2025.
“Another attention seeker,” Bowman posted including a laughing emoji and a face palm emoji.
Manning’s opt-out, reported by Anwar Richardson, was widely panned, as college football players don’t have to do anything to opt in to being a part of the upcoming video game.
Bowman soon took down the post about Manning.
Manning is scheduled to be Texas’ backup quarterback again in 2024 behind Quinn Ewers, while Bowman led the Big 12 in interceptions, return yards and defensive touchdowns last season.
The Sooners and Longhorns renew one of college football’s most heated rivalries on Oct. 12 in Dallas — for the first time as members of the Southeastern Conference.
