Does Oklahoma State Have a Case to be Ranked?

The Oklahoma State Cowboys have had three straight impressive wins.

The narrative around the Oklahoma State Cowboys just over three weeks ago compared to now is polar opposite. Back then, coming off a loss to Iowa State, the Cowboys seemed to be in a bad place.

The Cyclones, at the time, were considered one of the worst teams in the Big 12, which doesn’t seem to be the case.

Also, the Cowboys had lost to South Alabama, a Group of Five team that the Cowboys should have been able to take care of.

Everything changed after the Iowa State loss, though. The bye week was timely. Alan Bowman and Ollie Gordon had both had a full game as the starter at their respective positions, which turned out to be huge.

With wins over Kansas State, who started the season ranked, No. 23 Kansas and West Virginia, who was on the bubble of being ranked.

With all three being impressive upset wins, including the most recent being on the road in a tough environment, the Cowboys could be on their way to being ranked. They received a vote last week after taking down Kansas State, but there remains to be some teams ahead of them.

The Cowboys are on the bubble, but there’s a chance Gordon and the rest of the Cowboys had a statement of a win over the Mountaineers enough to get some respect in the AP Poll.

With a homecoming matchup coming against Cincinnati, if the Cowboys don’t find their way into the Top 25 this week, they certainly seem on their way if they can take care of business.

The two losses, though in retrospect, the South Alabama is the only bad loss, might be a big enough stain to hold the Cowboys from being ranked this week.

The wins, though, seem much more impressive than the losses seem bad, and the current iteration of this Oklahoma State team is a force to be reckoned with.
