What does Kansas head coach Lance Leipold think of Alan Bowman and playing in Stillwater?

For the second week in a row, the Oklahoma State Cowboys are taking on a tough team from Kansas, this time matching up against the No. 23 Kansas Jayhawks.

Fortunately for the Cowboys, they're hosting the Jayhawks in Stillwater, making the probability of an upset win just a little bit better.

With Jalon Daniels remaining out with injury, Jason Bean will likely be starting under center for the Jayhawks (read more about that here). On the other side, the Cowboys will be starting Alan Bowman for his third game as a full-time starter.

Jayhawks head coach Lance Leipold talked about Bowman starting under center.

"Size, experience, I think he's got a better feel for what they're doing," Leipold said at his weekly presser. "He's got a good arm. He's run some. Again, I think it's just being more comfortable and consistent in what they're doing."

For Bowman, it'll be about controlling the offense in a way that avoids turnovers. Throw short, allow playmakers to make plays and scramble when needed to avoid big sacks or gambling on throws that aren't there.

As a team, though, the Cowboys have historically done well against the Jayhawks, and most recently in Stillwater, Oklahoma State took down Kansas. As a football program, though, Kansas really revitalized itself last year.

Oklahoma State has won 12 of its last 13 matchups against Kansas, with the Jayhawks winning 37-16 last year in Lawrence. Still, Leipold needs to prove he can win in Stillwater.

Leipold said he pointed out to their leadership group how much of a struggle it's been playing in Stillwater.

"Obviously, want to change that. That was a pretty disappointing performance down there two years ago, I know that," Leipold said. "But it's two years ago, and some of the guys that are still here have definitely grown and matured since then, and, last year, I thought we played pretty well here."

Despite being favorites, starting with a backup quarterback and playing in Stillwater causes for some challenges in this one for Kansas.

"Take them for what they're worth but we've got to find a way to go down to a tough place, like I said, and find a way to win a game," Leipold continued.
