The Oklahoma State fanbase is incredibly upset after the 33-7 loss to South Alabama, as most fanbases would be. The upset loss wasn't just a close loss that could've gone either way. The Cowboys got dominated. Mike Gundy is much more optimistic than the fanbase, however.

"I don't think we have any majors," Gundy said of issues during his Monday press conference. "I'm just being honest. I'm going to be able to give you a really good thought three weeks from now."

With the performance the Cowboys rolled out and put up against a Sun Belt Conference team, there's a variety of things to look at when looking at why they lost.

"Let me go back now. What we did out there Saturday was ugly," Gundy continued. "I'm not saying anything other than that, but I'm saying I don't see it as a major issue. When I watched the tape, I felt a lot better than I did when I went home, let's put it that way."

It's true. The game was incredibly ugly, and that's just one of many ways to describe what happened on Saturday. Ahead of conference play, there is much to be improved on, but getting off to a quick start will be incredibly important to the tone of the game against Iowa State.

"I think everything that we're doing we can improve on in enough to play and compete and give ourselves a chance to win games," Gundy said.

If this is the case, there's a lot to be desired about the rest of the Cowboys season. Of course, the carousel of quarterbacks will continue, as Gundy stated in the press conference. Evidently, that could be a large part of the problem. There's no consistent play, and no tone being set by the Cowboys.

The rest of the team has issues it can clean up, too, though. Whether it be better blocking, running or defending all around, the Cowboys are going to have to find a way to battle Iowa State and their equally as poor offense.
