Oklahoma State Football to Face Interim Head Coach in Bowl Game

Texas A&M will be led by an interim head coach as the two teams match up in the Texas Bowl.

After an interesting and entertaining from the Oklahoma State football team which led to a 9-4 season, including a Big 12 title game appearance, the Cowboys will be taking on the Texas A&M Aggies in the Texas Bowl to wrap up the season.

For the Cowboys, this game is an opportunity to reach the ten-win mark. After what transpired last season in the transfer portal and how the season started, that would be an incredible feat.

With the opportunity to end the season on a high note, the Cowboys are taking on Texas A&M, who will be under the guidance of interim head coach Elijah Robinson. The Aggies, after what was shaping up to be another mediocre season in the SEC, moved on from Jimbo Fisher.

Robinson took over after Fisher was fired, and, not only did he impress in his time as the interim head coach, but he landed a job with Syracuse as their new head coach. He went 1-1 in his two games as the main guy for the Aggies.

The Aggies hired Mike Elko to lead a program rebuild, which could add some fresh life after Fisher ultimately couldn't get it done as the head coach.

Elko has spent the last two seasons as the Duke head coach, holding a 16-9 record over his two seasons there.

For Mike Gundy and the Cowboys, they'll be facing a program looking to build some momentum and truly turn the page. If Robinson, on his way out, can win a bowl game with an inspired group that hasn't hit the transfer portal, Elko will be taking over with the program holding a bit of momentum.

Oklahoma State has an opportunity, though, to beat a team that's a bit rattled after plenty of change this season. Changing head coaches is never an easy thing in college football, especially as the interim head coach is making his way out after the game, too.
