Oklahoma State Linebacker Shares Simple, Positive Message on Social Media
The Oklahoma State Cowboys have gotten off to far from a glamorous start. A 2-1 record isn't something to typically hold their head over, but the demoralizing 33-7 loss after two wins that should have come in much more dominating fashion can do that.
There's also seldom hope given the fact that there is no named starting quarterback over three weeks into the college football season. Conference play has yet to start, and things could drastically turn around for the Cowboys once a QB1 is officially named, but plenty more will have to go right.
Xavier Benson shared a message on social media that reads, "Perseverance."
The simple message should leave fans slightly optimistic, given there's still more than enough room for things to turn around. The defense has shown glimmers of hope, Ollie Gordon has the ability to transform a game at the running back position and naming a starting quarterback could do wonders for the team.
What's yet to be mentioned is the idea that the playcalling can make life easier. No slow developing plays and more getting weapons the ball. Let skill players determine these games and don't try to get fancy. Win the game in the trenches and trust the defense.
Evidently, there's a good amount of things that can be fixed about this Oklahoma State squad, and, as mentioned, they haven't even started Big 12 play yet.
This message comes from Benson, who is a redshirt senior who began his playing career with Texas Tech in 2019. He redshirted in the 2018 season and opted out of the 2020 season, meaning he really just played the one redshirt freshman season.
He then transferred to Tyler Junior College before making his way to Oklahoma State in 2022. Benson is now in his second season with the team after making 76 total tackles last season.
A veteran on this roster, Benson is a good player to send a message about perseverance, given his history as a college football player.
