Oklahoma State Lineman Claims Oklahoma Fans Are a 'Bunch of Bandwagons'
Bedlam week is more than here. On Saturday, Oklahoma State will host Oklahoma in Stillwater for one last in-state duel for the foreseeable future. Though Oklahoma has historically dominated the matchup, this will be amongst the most memorable matchups, given that it's the last one before Oklahoma takes off to the Southeastern Conference.
For people who grew up in Oklahoma, this is a must-watch matchup. Whether a fan of either team or not, this game will be on in most Oklahoma households. Starting offensive lineman Dalton Cooper is among the Oklahoma natives who grew up watching the game.
During a media scrum on Monday, Cooper was asked about the matchup, and whether his hometown of Prague, OK leaned towards cheering for Oklahoma or Oklahoma State. He said there were more Sooners fans, though he mentioned the quality of Cowboys fans outweighed the quantity of Sooners fans.
“I’d also say that all the OU fans that are there, maybe about 95% of them didn’t go to college at OU,” Cooper said. “But 100% of the OSU fans that are in my town, all of them went to OSU. We’re a little bit more loyal and true at our fan base here. They’re just a bunch of bandwagoners for sure.”
Cooper then recalled the few Bedlam matchups he went to growing up. Again, this has been a historical matchup, and it's going to be much different when the game is no longer being played.
This year, Bedlam has more than just the in-state rivalry adding weight to the matchup. The Sooners and Cowboys both have one Big 12 loss, and the winner puts themselves in a prime position to win out and play in the Big 12 Championship game.
With conference implications added to the story of the final Bedlam, the matchup is squaring up to be an all-time matchup and is going to be an exhilarating viewing.
