Oklahoma State Projected to Play in Texas Bowl Against Texas A&M
The Oklahoma State Cowboys have completed both the regular season and the Big 12 championship, meaning the only bit of football they've got left this season will come in a bowl game.
So, what bowl game is Oklahoma State projected to play in?
Action Network's Brett McMurphy projects the Cowboys to take on the Texas A&M Aggies in the Texas Bowl.
How did the Cowboys get here? They've got a 9-4 record on the season -- including a loss to Texas in the Big 12 Championship game. They started the season 2-2 with losses to South Alabama and Iowa State and two subpar wins.
The Cowboys' season turnaround was quite impressive and led them to their second Big 12 title game appearance in three years, though they lost both of them. While it was a rollercoaster of a season, the Cowboys got a much-needed culture refresh as they head into the new Big 12.
For that reason, a matchup against the Aggies would be quite interesting. They finished 7-5 in the SEC with four of their losses coming to ranked opponents. Still, with the amount of talent they had, that was a letdown of a season. Jimbo Fisher recruited some incredible talents, but they couldn't put it together, so he got fired.
The Aggies need a bit of a culture refresh, but not in the same way as the Cowboys. They need to get to winning ways soon and string together some consistency, something Oklahoma State hasn't struggled with recently.
Still, both teams are looking to take momentum into next season for different reasons, and a bowl matchup of this caliber provides both teams to do so.
With the new rankings and bowls soon to come, the Cowboys will know where they finish their chaotic season and can then turn their focus to building for the new Big 12, which comes next season.
