Oklahoma State's Odds to Win 2024 College Football National Championship
The oddsmakers out of Las Vegas continue to struggle with gauging the success of Oklahoma State and Mike Gundy.
Heading into the 2024 season, the Cowboys are returning key contributors across a multitude of positions. Ollie Gordon, Brennan Presley and the Cowboys' star-studded offensive line are all returning for another season. Defensively, the Cowboys are starting to hear announcements from returnees, too.
According to BetOnline, the Cowboys have +20000 odds to win the 2024 college football National Championship, which ties them with Big 12 opponent Kansas, who is also returning a bulk of their impact players.
Other Big 12 teams have much better odds, those being Texas Tech, Colorado, Arizona, Utah and Kansas State. Now, each of those teams will pose big challenges for Oklahoma State, but with as much talent the Cowboys are returning a season removed from a Big 12 title game appearance, one would think they'd get a little bit more respect with the odds.
More so than the National Championship winner odds, it's interesting to see that's where the Cowboys rank among the rest of the Big 12 programs. Kansas State is seeing a program turnover with transfers and coaching changes. Colorado is coming off a rocky finish to their season in the Pac-12. Arizona and Utah are both going to be tough to beat with the way their seasons went, but seeing them in the Big 12 squaring off against new opponents will be interesting.
Still, oddsmakers continue to miscalculate how the Cowboys' seasons will go. They don't understand the consistency of the Oklahoma State football program. Gundy has led his team to 18 straight bowl games. In recent history, the Cowboys have been one of the better Big 12 programs continually battling for conference championship game appearances.
Having played in two of the last three Big 12 title games, it'll be interesting to see how the program fares in a new-look conference.
