PFF Grades: Which Cowboys Played the Best Against West Virginia?
The Oklahoma State Cowboys took an impressive win over West Virginia in Morgantown last Saturday. Of course, it was another incredible performance by Ollie Gordon and the defense came through in a timely manner.
Now 5-2 on the season, the Cowboys midseason turnaround feels more than real at this point. To see how they finish out their remaining schedule will be intriguing considering the amount of potential they have.
Here were the best-performing Pokes as they defeated the Mountaineers in Week 8 of college football, courtesy of PFF.
Ollie Gordon, 85.2 offensive grade: The top overall player on offense is no surprise. With an 85.2 grade, Gordon had a ten-point lead over any other offensive player.
This comes as no surprise. Gordon had 29 carries which went for 282 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. In the fourth quarter, Gordon absolutely took over and ended the game. The recent surge from the Cowboys can be partially attributed to the breakout of Gordon.
Alan Bowman, 75.0 offensive grade: Next for the Cowboys' offense was Alan Bowman. He completed 24 of his 36 passes for 210 passing yards and two touchdowns.
It was a stat sheet-stuffing game for Bowman, but he did his job. His interception didn't help his score either. He did his job consistently getting the ball to his receivers, though, which was a positive for the game.
Nickolas Martin, 83.0 defensive grade: Martin was quite literally everywhere on the field. He had 17 total tackles, stuffing the stat sheet. He graded out best in run defense and tackling, which seems obvious with his tackle numbers. He had eight tackles that were "stops" according to PFF, too.
Martin remains a key player to the defense as he's proven his value more and more as the season has come along.
Kendal Daniels, 79.0 defensive grade: With the Cowboys' second-best defensive grade, Daniels best played in pass coverage, according to PFF. He graded 85.1 in that department.
Daniels was targeted seven times and allowed six catches. He also had ten total tackles, working in the stat sheet similarly to Martin.
