Au'Diese Toney Makes Summer League Debut with Orlando Magic

PITTSBURGH -- After spending the better part of the past week riding the bench, former Pitt Panthers forward Au'Diese Toney got his first taste of NBA action with the Orlando Magic in an 82-80 overtime loss to the New York Knicks at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Toney, who spent three seasons at Pitt before transferring to Arkansas, had not appeared in Orlando's first two games in Las Vegas, but played 21 minutes against the Knicks this week. He missed all three of his field goal attempts but went two for two from the free throw line, grabbed five rebounds, dished an assist and blocked two shots. Toney was a +1 in his time on the floor.
Toney averaged 9.7 points, 5.4 assists and 1.0 steals per game while making 45% of his field goals over 70 games in three seasons as a Panther. He transfered to Arkansas in the spring of 2021 and thrived for the Hogs, averaging career-bests in scoring, shooting percentage, blocked shots and free throw shooting as his team won 28 games and finished 17th in the final AP poll.
Last season with Orlando's G League affiliate, the Osecola Magic, Toney averaged 8.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while making 56% of his field goals, 36.7% of his 3-pointers and 79% of his free throws over 21.1 minutes per game in 28 appearances.
