Former Pitt PG Brandin Knight Responds to Jim Boeheim's Accusations

PITTSBURGH -- Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim made waves this weekend by claiming the program bought its current team. Even former Panther Brandin Knight, one of the best point guards in the school's history and now an assistant coach at Rutgers, fired back at Boeheim.
"This sounds like sour grapes," the former Pitt great wrote on Twitter. "Next time asl [Boeheim] how many teams he bought before NIL was legal. Don't throw stones from a glass house. Remember you've been coaching for a lot of years and a lot of us know who got paid!!!!"
Boeheim's program at Syracuse was investigated for offering improper benefits to players in 2014. As a result, the NCAA vacated 101 wins from the record books and the program self-imposed a one-year postseason ban.
Boeheim made his initial comments in an interview with ESPN's Pete Thamel. He accused Pitt - alongside Miami and Wake Forest - of using NIL to recruit transfer portal players. He later said he "misspoke" and shouldn't have included Wake Forest and Pitt in those accusations.
Knight played at Pitt from 1999 to 2003. He was the 2001-02 Big East Player of the Year and two-time All-Big East selection. He served as an assistant coach for the Panthers for eight years before moving on to Rutgers.
