Pitt S Erick Hallett Chooses Jaguars Jersey Number

PITTSBURGH -- Pitt Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars fans can start lining up to buy the jersey of rookie safety Erick Hallett, who chose his first NFL Number this week.
Hallett, who wore No. 31 ever since his freshman season at Pitt, will now don No. 40 on Sundays in Jacksonville.
Hallett took over a starting role when the unexpected mid-season opt-outs of Damar Hamlin and Paris Ford in 2020. Ever since, he's been a smart, steady presence for the Panthers at his field safety position.
Hallett earned All-ACC consideration twice as an honorable mention in 2021 and a second-teamer in 2022. In 2021, he earned ACC Championship Game MVP Honors after intercepting Sam Hartman twice and returning one for a touchdown in Pitt's 45-21 win over Wake Forest. In 2022, Hallett was named a second-team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America and a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, given annually to the best safety in college football.
In 49 career games, Hallett amassed 170 total tackles, eight interceptions, 32 passes defended, four forced fumbles and four recovered fumbles.
