Pitt Players Left Out of NFL Combine

The Pitt Panthers have a handful of upperclassmen that were left out of the NFL combine.

PITTSBURGH - - The Pitt Panthers will have three players representing them at this year’s NFL Combine, but plenty of their draft-eligible players did not receive an invite and will face an uphill battle to realize their professional football dreams.

Linebacker Shayne Simon, an All-ACC selection in 2023, is one of the notable snubs. He has the right physical makeup at 6’2 and 230 pounds. He has production to match as well, with 94 total tackles, 13 for a loss, seven sacks and eight passes defended to his name over 25 games as a Panther. He’s versatile, having played both inside and outside linebacker at Pitt.

A handful of upperclassmen offensive and defensive linemen were left off the list of invites as well. Multi-year starters Jake Kradel and Blake Zubovic were not invited.

Defensive tackles Devin Danielson, David Green and Tyler Bentley will also spend that week training in their own after not receiving invites.

Cornerbacks A.J. Woods and Marquis Williams - two undersized but experienced and tough defensive backs - did not receive invites to Indianapolis either.

Back on the offensive side of the ball, quarterback-turned- tight end Phil Jurkovec, true tight end Malcolm Epps and running backs Daniel Carter and C’Bo Flemister did not receive invites as well.

While M.J. Devonshire, Matt Goncalves and Bub Means will get a head start on their pursuit of an NFL career, a laundry list of other Pitt players will have to work a little harder to get noticed.
