Gamecocks 6 Homeruns Lead to 19-14 Win Over Presbyterian

Mark Kingston and his crew came into another midweek game coming off a weekend high after sweeping the previously third-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores. Looking to remain hot, the staff wanted to be efficient with their pitches and continue being hot with their bats. Parker Noland ensured they did that with his leadoff homer in the first inning on just two pitches. Ethan Petry joined in on the fun early after a Kennedy Jones walk with a homerun of his own, giving Carolina an early 3-0 lead to start the game.

The runs didn't end there in the first inning for the Gamecocks. Blake Jackson would bring in a run with an RBI double, and after another hit and a walk, Dalton Reeves would destroy a three-run shot before South Carolina ended the inning with seven runs. The game would go into a weather delay, but Petry didn't wait long before he would hit yet another two-run bomb while getting to his 100th career RBI. While the third inning would be silent for the Gamecocks, the fourth was highlighted by yet another three-run homer from Reeves.

South Carolina added two more runs in the fifth inning, increasing its lead to 15-6 heading into the sixth inning. The Gamecocks bats continued to stay hot, as Will Tippett started the inning with a single, and Jones got a two-run shot to increase the lead after the team's sixth home run. Presbyterian added five runs in the seventh to extend the game before Carolina plated two more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The pitching staff had an overall rough day, giving up way too many walks, which cost them. Walking 13 batters and hitting 4 Presbyterian batters, including a five-run inning with several walks and hit-by-pitch. The staff probably used more pitchers than they would have preferred, however. South Carolina keeps the bats hot heading into the series against Alabama.
