Ethan Barbour Includes Gamecocks In Top 8
South Carolina's Football program has had a decent history of developing and sending tight ends onto the next level. Recent examples include Justice Cunningham, Busta Anderson, Jerrell Adams, Hayden Hurst, Nick Muse, and Nate Adkins. The position group is expected to be one of the best for the Gamecocks in 2023, with transfers Trey Knox and Joshua Simon expected to play vital roles in South Carolina's passing attack this Fall.
This history of development combined with Shane Beamer's recruiting strategy has likely helped the Gamecocks to a certain degree on the recruiting trail, as they already have one of the best tight ends from the 2024 class in Michael Smith, who fits the modern mold of the tight end position. In the 2025 class, South Carolina has already dispensed offers to five different tight end prospects, with one of the more notable names being Georgia native Ethan Barbour.
Barbour, who's visited Columbia two times to this point in his recruitment, seems to have significant interest in the Gamecocks, evidenced by the fact he included them in his Top 8 he released on Monday evening.
The competition is stiff for Barbour, with teams like Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Southern Cal' and Texas all a part of Ethan's top group.
