Cameron Brink Projected To Go No. 2 Overall in WNBA Draft
On Sunday, the WNBA draft lottery was held and revealed the draft order for the upcoming WNBA Draft.
The Indiana Fever, who were represented by last year's No. 1 pick Aliyah Boston, ended up getting the top pick in the draft again. Following the draft order's reveal, ESPN's Michael Voepel released a mock draft.
Stanford's star forward Cameron Brink was projected to go second overall to the Los Angeles Sparks, as her skills and strength are two aspects of her game that stand out according to Voepel.
The only "upset" in the lottery, odds-wise, was the Sparks going second and Phoenix third. But we think the picks might stay with the same teams. Brink has been brilliant this season as Stanford's centerpiece. She is averaging 18.6 points, 11.6 rebounds and 3.3 blocks. Her skill set is strong, and her physical strength will improve even more as a professional.
Brink and No. 9 Stanford are looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season, which took place on December 3. She ended up leaving the game in the first half due to an illness, and the team's offense and defense suffered mightily without her in the 96-78 loss to Gonzaga.
They will return to action on Friday against Portland.
