Garrett Shrader to Miss Boca Raton Bowl
Syracuse quarterback Garrett Shrader will not play in Thursday's Boca Raton Bowl for the Orange, the program announced on Monday. Shrader had surgery to repair a torn shoulder that he has dealt with since October.
"It was important for me to get our team to a bowl game," Shrader said in a statement. "I would have done it earlier in the season, but I wanted to wait until we got bowl eligible. This team has too much talent and works too hard not to play a 13th game.
"It's been a blessing and a privilege to play for Syracuse University. I'm glad my final game in the Dome was an opportunity to help this team get to a bowl. I want to thank Coach Babers and his staff for the opportunity to play here. I'm looking to forward to supporting my teammates down in Boca."
The news means his last game in a Syracuse uniform was a JMA Wireless Dome win over Wake Forest that pushed the Orange to bowl eligibility.
Shrader finishes his Cuse career third in career completion percentage (.604), fourth in career passing efficiency (136.1), fifth in total offense (7,474), third in total offense per game (213.5), sixth in touchdown passes (39), fourth in touchdowns responsible for (70) and fourth in career rushing touchdowns (31).
