Syracuse Freshman Running Back Ike Daniels Announces Intent to Enter Transfer Portal

The Orange is down a contributing running back.

Syracuse freshman running back Ike Daniels announced on Tuesday that he will enter the transfer portal. He enters after spending one season at Syracuse, in which he redshirted, and will have four years of eligibility remaining. Daniels played in four games this past season, rushing for 103 yards on 18 carries.

"First I give thanks and praise to God for giving me the opportunity to play the game I love," Daniels wrote in a social media post. "Thank you to the coaches who believed in me and the relationships built here at Syracuse. I thank everyone who believes and supported me through my journey.

"With that said, I will be entering my name in the transfer portal with 4 years of eligibility."

Daniels signed with Syracuse as part of its 2023 recruiting class out of Mountain View High School in Virginia. He was rated a three star prospect by all four major recruiting services. Daniels chose the Orange over offers from Arizona State, Boston College, Michigan State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and West Virginia, among others.

While Daniels only appeared in four games to preserve his redshirt, he was named ACC Rookie of the Week for his performance in the season opener against Colgate. He rushed for 63 yards in the win and added 15 receiving yards as well.
