It's just one more season until the SEC expands with the addition of Texas and Oklahoma. And while those two teams battle it out for their last possible Big 12 championship, the rest of the SEC tries to make their mark before expansion.

It's no secret that Georgia has won two national titles in a row and is certainly the favorite to win again per USA Today, but there's a possible surprise darkhorse looming large in the Texas A&M Aggies.

The Aggies are coming off two very disappointing seasons under coach Jimbo Fisher, and while some of Aggieland is beginning to show signs of tiring of Team Fisher, 2023 could be a turnaround year for the maroon and white.

Fisher turned over the offense to new offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino, and quarterback Conner Weigman showed flashes of brilliance last year.

SEC

Favorite: Georgia

Dark horse: Texas A&M

"With all due respect to Alabama, it's difficult to pick against the two-time defending national champions. Georgia has holes to fill, though, after losing another group of high-profile starters to the NFL draft and several possible contributors to the transfer portal. At quarterback, look for the Bulldogs to land on junior Carson Beck as the starter under new offensive coordinator Mike Bobo.

"For now, continued concerns at quarterback even following the addition of Notre Dame transfer Tyler Buchner put the Crimson Tide in second place in the SEC power rankings."

If the new offense and young signal-caller Weigman can gel early, this thing has a chance to make its mark in 2023.
