Longhorns Kick Off 14-Game Home Stand Against Sam Houston
The Texas Longhorns (4-7) return home to kick off a 14-game homestand with a pair of midweek games. First up on Tuesday night, the Longhorns welcome the Sam Houston Bearkats (6-7) to Disch-Falk Field.
The season so far for the Texas Longhorns has been one defined by streaks. They lost three straight to open the season, which was followed by a three-game win streak and that was followed by two straight losses.
Luckily for Texas, though, it is 3-2 in five home games this season with the two losses coming in the series finale against Indiana and a midweek game against No. 1 LSU.
However, the Bearkats will not be an easy win by any means and will make life difficult for the Longhorns.

A look at Sam Houston's season so far:
The Bearkats opened their season at 3-2, but perhaps their most impressive performances came in the Karbach Classic. They left Round Rock going 2-1, with a 6-0 win over Iowa and 8-3 win over Kansas State. After that, though, they lost four straight games before taking the series finale against Illinois to snap that losing streak.
Sam Houston by the numbers:
Record: 6-7
Runs scored: 92
Runs allowed: 84
Team Avg.: .283
Team ERA: 5.95
Sam Houston wins this game if...
They can chase the Texas starter from the game early. While the Longhorns have had a reliable bullpen through 11 games so far, with another game tomorrow and a three-game series this weekend they will want to avoid burning bullpen arms. With that, if the Bearkats can take control of this game early they could hand Texas its second straight loss.
Texas wins this game if...
The bats finally show some signs of life consistently. There have been flashes in all 11 games so far of how good this lineup can be, they just have yet to put it together consistently. However, if they can take advantage of a Sam Houston pitching staff that has given up 10 runs three times already, it could serve as the turning point for a lineup that sorely needs a shot of adrenaline.
