College Football Fans Outraged By Spot In Texas Longhorns Win Over Houston Cougars

The Texas Longhorns were able to stave off a late push by the Houston Cougars.

The Texas Longhorns game on Saturday was a win, but it certainly falls under the category of an ugly one.

The No. 8 Longhorns started off strong going up by a score of 21-0 in the first half, but eventually allowed the Houston Cougars to crawl back into the game. Houston was able to tie the game in the third quarter, which led to Texas notching a field goal to again take a 24-21 lead.

The Cougars naturally answered with three points of their own early in the fourth quarter to tie it up, forcing Maalik Murphy to lead Texas down the field to take the lead as he was filling in for the injured Quinn Ewers. The Longhorns leaned on the run game and ended up powering in a touchdown but Houston again had a chance to answer.

As Texas allowed Oklahoma to do in the Red River Rivalry matchup a couple of weeks ago, the Cougars were able to meander down the field and got into position to score. With 1:03 left in the game, Houston had a third-and-1 situation at the Texas 10-yard line, so they handed the ball to running back Stacy Sneed. The running back appeared to have some forward progress that could have placed him down to the Texas 9-yard line, but instead, he was marked short of the line to gain making it fourth down.

On the following play, Donovan Smith's pass fell incomplete, thus ending the game in a controversial fashion. Something college football fans were not shy about discussing on social media, as many were stunned at the call.

Here are some of the best reactions on social media.
