Texas Longhorns Rank No. 7 In Second College Football Playoff Rankings

The Texas Longhorns remain on the outside looking in in the latest College Football Playoff Rankings.

Coming off of a thrilling overtime win over a ranked Kansas State Wildcats team on Saturday, the Texas Longhorns were hoping to move up in the newest edition of the College Football Playoff rankings.

However, at least for this week, that was not the case, with the Horns standing pat at No. 7 in Tuesday's rankings.

That said, as he noted last week, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is not concerned with where they are right now.

"It's so early in this thing that I'm not really concerned about it," Sarkisian said last week. "There's so much football left to be played."

That might come as a surprise on the surface to some. However, there is reason for Sarkisian to be confident.

For all intents and purposes, the Longhorns still control their own destiny in the CFP race. They have arguably the best resumé of any one-loss team in the country, and they still have a date with another ranked team - whether it be Oklahoma or Oklahoma State or someone else - to help bolster their claim.

Either way, there is still plenty of football to play for everyone, and all the Horns can do is focus on what they can control.

"The key is focusing on what you can control, and what we can control is our preparation and then ultimately the way we play Saturday," Sarkisian said last week. "We can't get caught up in what other people are doing."
